‘The Roundhay skatepark project was started by a local group of skateboarders, BMX'ers, rollerbladers, rollerskaters and parents who want to transform the current run down skatepark into something not only fit for the local neighbourhood, but for the 1.2 million visitors to the park every year. Their aim is to create a world class skatepark for the whole of Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond. Beyond a skatepark, they also aim to develop the site for less able bodied and disabled people to allow them to use the facility. A world first right here in Roundhay.’
We met Matt, one of the founders of Roundhay Skatepark project, at their Springwells fundraiser in the Summer. Roundhay park plays a huge part of Nehjat’s, Co-Founder of Goods by Pops, childhood memories with Pops and now plays a big part with his two children when visiting their Dadima in Oakwood.
From our chats with Matt and frequent visits to the skatepark, it was clear we wanted to help raise awareness for their project and make things better not just for our boys but for the whole community. Goods by Pops ethos is built on family values and community is at the heart of it. We hope the fundraiser tee we’ve designed, with abit of help from our 5 year old Solomon on the Goods by Pops wording, not only helps financially in some way to rebuild the skatepark but also brings awareness and gives others inspiration to come together with local projects to do something good for the community and families around.
We’ll be launching the tee at The Melbourne in Oakwood on Saturday 11th November 12-6pm along with food pairing from Thiccc Sauce and some other fundraiser goodies.
